The True King!

“That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.”

I Timothy 6: 14-16

I went to a Christian camp one summer, and I promised a group of my friends that I would not make any decisions for God. We had a pact that we would not be swayed by the preaching nor would we cave in to God’s leading. I was doing great on this promise the first couple of days, but by Wednesday I was under great conviction. The invitation time and the piano played a song that shook me to my core. My palms became sweaty and my knees grew weak. I felt all eyes were on me but there was only One who really mattered. The Holy Spirit shattered my heart and I could no longer resist the magnetic pull to the altar.

I went forward that night and bawled like a baby due to my rebellion against God. My heart was broken and the walls were torn down. I realized no matter the defense I tried to put up, there was no denying who was the true King of kings and Lord of lords. Only God could reach into the heart of a teenager and change his heart – a heart that was dead set against doing right and a heart that vowed not to make decisions for God. Saul also found out who it was he fought against and was blinded by the sheer presence of God almighty.

The time is short and no man knows the time and hour when God will come back. When He comes again, there will be no denying who is Kings of kings and Lord of lords. Every knee will bow before Him and every tongue will confess as He is worthy of all praise and adoration. He is not the “man upstairs”, but He is Almighty God. He is the Creator and is the only One worthy of the highest praise. He is clothed with immortality and will reign forevermore.

Where are you today friend? Have you made a knowing or unknowing pact in your heart against God? Are you ready for Him to come back? Do you pray for His return? Do you give Him His proper place? Do you recognize Him as the King of kings and Lord of lords? What will it take in your life to shift your focus onto Him? May we praise the One who alone is worthy, and may we pray for His swift return. To Him be power and honor everlasting!

Stay in the Fight!
