The Favor of God

“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.”

Genesis 6:8-9

We live in a world that seems to be turned upside down where wrong is right and right is wrong. You do not have to look far to see the evil of man as portrayed on the nightly news or in the vile words written on social media. We live in a wicked world that has lost sight of God and every man does what is right in his own eyes. Proverbs 21:2 states, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.” It does not take long for us to get sidetracked when we take our eyes of the Truth and become susceptible to the world’s philosophy and “truth.”

In the days of Noah, the world had become so wicked that it grieved God that He had even made mankind. Evil was being done continually and so much so that it grieved the heart of God. Noah did not succumb to the wickedness, but he distinguished himself in his faith and walked with God. He was a testimony amongst the wickedness that was being done all around him, and he stood out for the right reasons. He did not comply with the teachings of the world around him but he walked with Him who was the Truth.

I think back to times in my life when I was surrounded by evil and had a decision to make. I recall times when I knew better but still took part in the wrongdoing. Times when I should have walked away and other times when I should have taken a stand. Times when I blended in with the crowd and looked like everyone else instead of being a light in a dark place. Our world does not need someone like them, but rather someone who stands out and take a stand for God.

I am grateful for God’s favor in my life and the patience He has with me. Sanctification is not a one-day process, but rather one that occurs over a lifetime. I am grateful for the opportunities God has given me in my life and the second chances I have been given to stand for what is right and walk with Him. My desire is to walk close to Him, so His light may shine in my life. Matthew 5:16 states, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Do you stand out in this wicked world or do you blend in with the others? Does your light shine for God or has it grown dimmed by the teachings of the world? Do you walk with God or have you drifted far from Him? How are you viewed by those who know you best? Are you one who is known as a just person or do others not even know you are a Christian? Is your life one that glorifies your Heavenly Father? May we walk with God even when others choose not to, and may we take a stand for righteousness in a world that seeks evil. Noah was known for His walk with God, and his life is one that had an eternal impact. May we walk with God and may His light in us be a beacon of hope for our lost, dark world.

Stay in the Fight!
