“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;”I Timothy 1:1
I remember a time when I applied for a job I thought I was perfect for. The interview lasted for several hours, and I was even given a tour of the warehouse where I would be working. The pay was substantially greater than what I was making, and I was giving congratulatory handshakes and the promise of a call. I celebrated the interview with a nice dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant and waited for the phone to ring. My phone did not seem to work, and hours turned into days and weeks. I never received a call and I felt hopeless that I was ever going to find a new job.
I contacted my recruiter, who in the initial phase was eager to get me an interview, but now casually forgot I ever existed. Several months after my interview, I ran into the HR representative and couldn’t resist asking her about my status, knowing she clearly had denied me long ago. She gave me an awkward smile and quickly walked away. I was left without hope as I desperately continued my search for a different career.
Have you ever been in a situation in which you felt hopeless? Have you run out of gas physically or spiritually? In a world that is desolate and wicked, there is a hope that exceeds all hope. There is a Savior in heaven who promises to come back to get His own. There is a God who promises to never leave us or forsake us. We are never alone, and we are never without hope. In times of sorrow and hopelessness, I am grateful that I can depend on my God and Savior. I find comfort and relief in knowing that I have a Creator who made me for a purpose and loves me more than anyone ever could. In times of despair, I have an anchor that holds to the solid Rock, and in times of victory, I have someone I can rejoice with.
Where are you today friend? Do you have the Hope of hopes or are you depending on yourself, relationships or a career? Do you realize there is no hope outside of our Lord and Savior? Do you know the comfort that comes from resting in Him? May we never lose hope as Jesus is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Hope is not found in anything other than a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In whom or what is your hope in today?
Stay in the Fight!
