Moved But Not Changed

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Romans 12: 1-2

I’m sure we’ve all heard the popular phrase, “It’s my body, I’ll do what I please.” Well, I have been guilty of thinking, “It’s my life, and I’ll do what I please.” I recall the times at church camp when I dedicated my life to God, only to return the following summer to rededicate it again. I have made decisions based upon what pleased me instead of being concerned about what pleased God. My Christianity was camouflaged with the disguise of worldly thoughts and actions so that no one would notice I was a Christian. I read my Bible to satisfy an obligation. I failed in my walk with God because I refused to present my life a living sacrifice. Consequently, my scripture reading did little to change me.

That all improved when I read through the Freedom That Lasts curriculum for the first time and began to allow God to apply His word to my life. As he transformed my viewpoints, I was no longer bound by my own fleshly thoughts. When I was confronted with a spiritual test, a scripture would come to mind, and little by little His will became my priority. In place of my own selfish desires, I allowed God to mold my thoughts and actions.

It is amazing what God can do if you allow Him to transform you. As He renews your mind, you are no longer bound by your own system of beliefs. Instead, you are guided by the Lord’s will as He shapes your thinking. You begin to see the path He desires for you, and to experience freedom from besetting sins.

Friend, are you looking to be holy and acceptable unto God or do you desire to fit in with this world? Are you satisfied living a life of sin, or are you ready to present yourself a living sacrifice unto Him? May our lives be pleasing to God, and may we come to know what is our reasonable service. May the world be changed by the transformation and renewing of our mind, and may we be found holy and acceptable unto God.
