His Pleasure

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

Revelation 4:11

I graduated from high school in 1994, and I really had no plans for my life after that. I took the ACT test for which I did not realize I had to study for, and I did so poorly that they recommend I be a farmer or a DJ. I had plans to go to community college just because I was not sure what else to do. I was quite puzzled and somewhat worried about my future. I was still young but I was facing the next step in my life and was not sure where I needed to step.

Throughout my life, I’ve held various jobs from throwing trash to painting to working at a church. I finally finished college when I was 29, but things did not go the way I thought they would as a young boy. I did not become a Dallas Cowboy, and I did not become a preacher. By the time I graduated college, I was content in life but I was not sure what I wanted to be when I “grew up”. I worked in the ministry at my local church and then went into retail which I quickly realized was not a lifetime career move. I knew God had a plan for my life but I was not sure what that meant for me.

God called our family to Northwest Valley Baptist Church and started to reveal to me what He was doing in my life. Our Pastor asked me to lead a ministry called Freedom That Lasts and we started to see God work in this ministry. God began to show me that He created me for such a time as this. I believe God was showing me all of the time since I was a teenager, but I was not truly seeking Him as I should. My eyes began to open to His plan, and I became overwhelmed that He had created me for this time and purpose.

I was created for God’s pleasure, just as you were as well. You were created for His plan and His purpose, and not just for your own ambitions and worldly pursuits. He is worthy of our best and He is worthy to receive all the praise that we can give Him. We often tend to complain about our circumstances in life not realizing that God is performing His perfect His work in us. We get discouraged that our life is not what we thought it would be, but yet we are seeking our ambitions and not God’s will. If you are able to read this, then you must believe that you were created for this time in life for His purpose and for His glory.

Where are you today friend? Do you seek your own way or are you pursuing God’s will for your life? Proverbs 3:6 states, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Are you allowing Him to direct your paths? Are you acknowledging Him in all that you do? Do you feel lost in life? Do you feel cheated by life? Do you realize that your life is about Him? Do you realize that each one of us was created for His honor and glory?  Do you know He has created you for His pleasure and not your own? May we live our lives in preparation of eternity where we will praise Him and give Him honor and glory for all time. I pray you come to know His will for your life, and acknowledge Him in all that you do. May we live for our Creator and may we bring Him honor and glory with the life He has given us.

Stay in the Fight!
