“There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.”Proverbs 21:30
We live in a world that presents us with many tips, guidance and cousel. It seems everyone has an opinion on what you should do and how you should react to certain situations. Many people think themselves to be doctors and lawyers without any formal education or experience. You can type in any question in Google and find a myriad of answers. You can ask your questions through the channels of social media and see how many opinions you may get. People share their “expertise” and “knowledge”, and sadly, many have made major decisions based on what they have been told. Many are content to do whatever they are told just because they have read it on the internet.
My teenage years were filled with great wisdom, knowledge and understanding, or so I thought. My wisdom seemed to fade away the older I got, and every year revealed to me more things I did not know. I remember thinking I knew so much and there was nothing I was not prepared for until the day came when I was ill-prepared for what I was facing. I gave advice and shared my opinion like I was a subject matter expert even though I was like Sergent Schultz, and knew nothing.
There are times in our life when we think we know better than God, and we think that we don’t need to do as He has commanded us. We think we know all things and we forsake the counsel of His Word and the knowledge and understanding He has laid out for us. We think we are doing fine, so we don’t need to listen all the time. We take commandments as simply suggestions, and we don’t realize how far we have strayed from walking with God. It is hard to walk with God and know true wisdom if we are not daily in His Word.
Will you listen to wisdom, understanding and counsel, or will you seek your own rebellious way? Will you go to Him first when you need counsel and help, or will you ask everyone but God? Have you realized that there is no counsel or wisdom that is greater than God’s? Will you seek to know the truth, or will you simply ask enough people until you find someone who agrees with you? May we come to know that there is no true wisdom without God, and may we search for His wisdom in His Word.
