“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.“Revelations 1:5-6
I grew up in a loving home and I am grateful to still have that blessing today. I have experienced many acts of love and kindness throughout my life from family members, dear friends and sometimes even random strangers. I have a pretty good notion of what love is, but there has been one love that has far surpassed them all.
When I was a young boy, my mom read to me the Pineapple Story. It was a story about a missonary who hired locals to plant pineapples for him. When the pineapple harvest came, the locals took all of them. They said they did the planting work, so the fruit belonged to them even though they were paid for their labor. The missionary was not pleased as he felt they were stealing them. This continued for a while, and the missionary became so angry with them that he forgot why he was there.
Eventually, the missionary learned to love the locals and didn’t even get mad when they took the pineapples. The locals were surprised at the change of attitude and the love he had for them, and this love led them to listen to the message of the gospel. As a young kid hearing this story, I was mad at those locals and amazed at the love the missionary had for those who were doing wrong against him. My mom then turned it around on me and told me that even though I did wrong against God, He still chose to love me. My angry and judgmental heart melted after hearing that, and I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
My life was forever changed that day when I realized that His amazing love for me prompted Him to shed His precious blood and wash me from my sins. I was now a child of the King, and will forever be able to praise and give Him glory for all eternity. He is worthy to be praised for His sacrifice and amazing love He has for each one of us. God is truly good!
How about you? Have you come to know the goodness of the Lord? Do you know that He loves you like no one else? Do you know that He died for you? Do you know that He will wash you white as snow if you accept His sacrifice? How about you Christian? Does your life bring Him glory or do you simply talk a good game? Does your life lead others to our good and great King? May we share God’s amazing love with others and may we bring Him honor and glory forever and ever amen!
