Disappointed But Not Suprised

“But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit”

Jude 17-19

The world we live in today looks a lot different than it did just a few months ago. Uncertainty, fear, anger, and contention seems to be at all time high. People are using social media to voice their opinions and some have even taken to the streets to proclaim their viewpoint. The news stations, newspapers, and editorials all have a perspective on the events of the day, and it is hard to not be in the know of the troubles in our culture.

I have seen things that have disgusted me, and I have seen the evil of mankind displayed in high definition. I have voiced my opinion on some things, and other times, I have chosen to not say anything as I would think it would not be wise. Sometimes I feel outraged and other times embarrassed for our country. The news is hard to trust as it seems every channel has their own agenda, and sin is paraded and celebrated. II Timothy 3:13 states, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” The Bible tells us this world will not get better and things will grow worse until the Master comes. We should not be surprised by what is going on as this was prophesied long before.

I would like to say the problems of today’s world are relegated to only those who don’t believe in God, but it seems Christians have also become wrapped up in pursuing their own ungodly lusts. We are not to be as those who don’t know God, but we are to be a beacon of light in these trying times. We are to lead those who are lost to the One who can find them and satisfy them like no other. We are not to pursue our own opinions and thoughts, but we are to speak the truth from the Word of God. We do not need to form our own truth, but we must speak the Truth in love. We need to ensure we are honoring God with what we say and whom we follow. We our called out to be separate and we are called to live a life of holiness. The last thing the world needs is Christians who look just like them. We need to stand out for the right reason, and we need to be burdened for those around us who seek their own “truth” and ungodly lusts.

Where are you today friend? Do you complain about the world around you or are you determined to make a difference in this world for Jesus Christ? Do you desire to follow God or are you more worried about what the world thinks? Do you say too much when you need to not say anything? Do you pray for the ungodly and those who need Christ? Are you part of the ungodly or are you a follower of God? Matthew 5:16 states, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” How brightly does your light shine? Is your Father glorified by your actions and words? May we shine our lights and may they always point to our Father in heaven.

Stay in the Fight!

I want to be so full of Christ that if a mosquito bites me. It flies away singing “there is power in the blood.” To God be the glory!
